How to Read a MOTS-c Certificate of Analysis

A certificate of analysis (COA) is a report of test results for a specific lot of material.

Last reviewed and updated:

What should a COA contain?

Identity
Measured mass (e.g. by mass spectrometry) compared with the expected mass for the sequence.
Purity
Usually an HPLC percentage. Check the method and wavelength.
Quantity
Stated amount per vial, and how it was determined.
Lot number
Should match the number on your vial.
Laboratory
Who performed the testing (in-house or independent).
Test date
When the lot was analyzed.
Methodology
Instrument and method description.

Limitations of a COA

A COA is only as reliable as the lab and method behind it, applies only to the lot tested, and can be edited or misattributed. Independent verification is stronger than a supplier-issued document. Background: how materials are tested.

Lot-specific documentation, where available, is published by the supplier on its product page. We do not reproduce or vouch for test results here.
